Two trainees died within days while training in the SAF. National Serviceman Andrew Cheah Wei Siong who as 20 years of age died after fainting during a two kilometre walk on Pulau Tekong on 10 June 2008.
Clifton Lam, a Republic of Singapore Air Force RSAf Officer Cadet collapsed and died a day later while undegoing jungle training in Brunei.
Immdediately after these two incidents all training was stopped for 3 days.
